1. Try out new exercises: It’s important not to follow the same Pilates workout for months on an end. Sure, you’ve become an expert at the moves but maybe it’s time to try something else. Try to find more Pilates exercises that are more advanced than the ones you are performing now. You need to constantly work on introducing new exercises into your workout, as this will be the only way you’ll actually see results. 2. Work out with a friend: One of the best ways to challenge yourself is to workout with a friend. By having someone else workout with you, you’ll find that your motivation and enthusiasm for the exercises will increase. Also, if you want to give up before the time, your friend can motivate you to continue. You will also feel more pressure to perform. 3. Add more exercises to your mat workout: While a lot of people just use mats when it comes to Pilates exercise you can also add other equipment to your Pilates workouts. You can work out with a mat or a magic circle. You can also incorporate stretch bands and the exercise balls that are so commonly seen these days. If you are getting bored of normal Pilates exercises, try to rotate what equipment you use on specific days. 4. Focus on your breathing: It’s critical that you focus on your breathing when it comes to Pilates exercises. The way you breathe affects the way you can perform an exercise and for how long. Make sure that when you are exercising that you are focusing enough on the way you are breathing. Ask an instructor or find a guide online to give you the exact method of breathing properly. Learning how to perfect your deep breathing techniques (also known as Lateral breathing) will drastically improve your Pilates ability. 5. Listen to music that puts you in the right frame of mind: It really depends on the person but music can help increase your productivity during exercising by at least ten percent. Find a album or series of tracks that you can listen to while doing your Pilates workout. It will help you keep you motivated and the music will help you track how long you have been spending exercising. If these five tips are implemented carefully into your Pilates workout you can improve the results you see from the exercise plan. Make sure that you implement all of these tips and you will see a drastic improvement in the workout that you will receive from Pilates. Copyright (c) 2011 Andrew Holtom
